Team Seagate are World Champions!

At just before midday Nathan Fa’avae and his team, Seagate, came over the line to take the World Title. The MARCH was there. Blogging in real time. Photos and other action on Facebook but here is a paste in real time of the action:

1. It’s getting hot – in every way! The sun is shining hard on the French Riveria as Nathan Fa’avae and his Team Seagate race hard to the line!! The MARCH is currently front row at the finish with Seagate expected in the next hour!

2. No dramas – just sketchy reports from the field – earlier ETA not right. Team Seagate still going strong – we ‘think’ about to start paddling the final stage! Latest ETA 70-90mins….

3. The MARCH has just taken over the DJ desk at the finish line. Slipped their own iPod on and have started spinning the tunes with the Killers. Looking to move to Kiwi sounds to bring Seagate in to some homegrown tunes!

4. Kiwi Team Seagate are the Adventure Racing World Champions!!!!!!!!

Just over the line!

5. The World Champs are in cracking shape! Chatting, eating and catching up. Still in super spirits with no signs of injury. Hearing all the stories from a super race!

6. Nathan, Chris, Trevor, Sophie – World Champions – Champions of the World – don’t it sound great?!! Just packed ‘em off to the hotel for a shower and some rest. Bodies starting to stiffen as normal but still all well. Pockets full of the latest MARCH product – MARCH mints – the perfect post race freshener! Who has a contact at Air NZ? They’re flying home Sunday. We gotta get the new World Champs an upgrade! Let’s make that happen!!

7. Thule are over for a well deserved 2nd & it’s time for the MARCH to do what we do – MARCH on! We’ve just been round to the new World Champs pad to deliver fresh fruit, good food, and errr, perhaps the odd beer….They’re still awake, joking and chatting away. What does it take to tire these guys?? Big congrats to every team – those out there and those who have finished. A special cheer to Seagate, Thule, Silva and Quechua who we’ve been (trying) to keep up with on the course for 48 hrs (and we had a car!) A special mention to Team Omajakon from Finland. Pulling out with sickness, Outi & Pekka tracked the race with us, proved their navigation skills, camped out on rocks in the cold at 2,000m – all before a shower or clean clothes & all with very good grace. But it must end where it began. To Nathan, Trevor, Sophie & Chris – even the phrase World Champions doesn’t capture it – but you are – and so much more! It’s awesome. It’s adventure racing!
